Mr. Hackett, Managing Partner of GSF Advisors, joined the firm in March 2005 with over 15 years of experience in structured finance.
Since 2005, he has worked on a variety of financings with an equipment value of over $10 billion. These transactions have included lease financings for new equipment, lease restructurings and re-financings, negotiated terminations as well as secondary market lease sales and asset purchases. Asset classes have included rail cars, locomotives, renewable assets (such as solar farms), commercial aircraft, electric and steam generation facilities and real estate.
Prior to joining GSF Advisors, Mr. Hackett headed Capstar Partners' municipal structured finance practice. The group's responsibilities involved structuring, placing and documenting tax-advantaged lease transactions for a variety of domestic municipal agencies. This group of six professionals led the development of cross border and domestic lease transactions and their application to the US mass transit sector. During his tenure at Capstar Partners, the municipal group closed approximately 40 transactions for a variety of asset classes and lessee clients with a combined value in excess of $5 billion.
Clients included the State of New Jersey, San Francisco's BART, Atlanta's MARTA, Boston's MBTA, and Philadelphia's SEPTA. He has closed numerous transactions for a variety of clients including City Public Service of San Antonio, Los Angeles County's MTA, Houston's Metro, Boston's MBTA, New York's MTA and New Jersey Transit.
Prior to joining Capstar Partners, Mr. Hackett was an associate for The Transportation Group in both London and New York. While at The Transportation Group in New York, his responsibilities included marketing and executing cross-border leases and debt financings for major international airlines and railroads totaling over $500 million.
In London, Mr. Hackett was part of the firm's efforts to originate lessee mandates in the rail and airline sectors as well as place leveraged lease debt in the European debt markets. He also helped structure and place derivative swap and currency transactions as part of tailoring these financings to the specific needs of the firm's client base.
His prior experience includes positions as a foreign exchange trader and a commercial loan officer at First Union National Bank. Mr. Hackett received his B.A. in Economics from Davidson College and his MBA from the University of Virginia. Mr. Hackett is registered as a General Securities Representative with the FINRA (Series 7 and 63).
