Mr. DeCarlo, Managing Partner of GSF Advisors, joined the firm in February 2005 bringing 25 years of experience in equipment financing and leasing.
At GSF Advisors, he is responsible for advising tax equity investors in equipment leasing, project finance, and other tax-based transactions. He has also represented lessees in equipment leasing transactions. Since 2005, Mr. DeCarlo has originated $5 Billion of transactions for GSF Advisors. Equipment types have included rolling stock, locomotives, commercial aircraft, trucks, draglines, blue and brown water marine vessels, office buildings, research centers, distribution centers, waste to energy facilities, gas compressing equipment, hydroelectric facilities and solar energy projects.
Mr. DeCarlo's expertise in managing and negotiating these highly complex transactions was
developed initially as a Vice President and transaction manager for GE Capital, where he led and managed over $1 billion of investments in leveraged and single investor leases as well as secured loans for commercial aircraft. He later became a Director at Philip Morris Capital Corporation, one of the largest leveraged lease investors in the U.S. There, he led a team of four professionals
responsible for sourcing, structuring and negotiating over $1.5 billion of leveraged lease investments for aircraft, real estate, power facilities, manufacturing facilities and manufacturing equipment.
He then moved to the advisory side of the structured finance industry where he spent 15 years, prior to joining GSF Advisors. At his previous employer, Capstar Partners, he was Managing Director in charge of tax equity syndications, as well as their investor advisory business. In this position, he syndicated over $40 billion in tax equity transactions for clients of the firm. He also advised tax equity investor clients in over $4 billion of transactions. These transactions included transportation, manufacturing, real estate, power and other large ticket assets.
Mr. DeCarlo received his B.A. degree in Finance from The University of Connecticut. Mr. DeCarlo is registered as a General Securities Representative with the NASD (Series 7 and 63).
